Electranet, the network and communications infrastructure business, has been transformed from a loss making, heavily indebted company with a negative enterprise value in 2012 to a business worth £39m by the autumn of 2015. This has been achieved organically and without acquisitions. This spectacular turnaround has been achieved by focusing on the core competences of the business and ruthlessly discarding those parts of the business that were poorly understood by management and that were a distraction from value rather than adding value.
