West & Wales CPD Session - Tax, Loans & Management

West & Wales are pleased to invite you to the next CPD session on Tax, Loans and Management which shall be held on the top floor of PwC's Bristol Office, located at 2 Glass Wharf, Bristol, BS2 0FR. Tax specialists from PwC will cover three separate areas of current interest in tax that are relevant to businesses of all sizes. 

1. HMRC Update
-       Current issues to consider in seeking Corporation Tax, VAT or PAYE payment arrangements from HMRC
-       HMRC risk assessment process
-       New Corporate Criminal Offence for the failure to prevent the facilitation of tax evasion

2. Tax -Restructuring Groups and Loans
-       Tax issues on debt restructuring and refinancing
-       Selling part of a business

3. Management Incentives: 
-       Management incentive plants (equity, loans, cash)
-       Resetting management equity when a business is underperforming
-       Management equity rollovers on a sale of the company or change of investor


Iain Sanderson (HMRC Update)

Iain is a Senior Manager in PwC’s Tax team based in the South West. Iain is a Chartered Accountant who has specialised in tax matters for 20 years. He leads the Tax Disputes and Tax Reporting & Strategy business in the South West and South Wales advising businesses and individuals on strategic and operational tax issue. 

Alex Popkin (Tax - Loans and Management)

During his 20 years with PwC, Alex has dealt with a broad range of companies including large listed groups, private equity backed businesses, inbound investors and owner managed businesses.  Alex has a particular focus on international tax advice and financing transactions. Alex has a national reputation within PwC earned in part through leading national technical training courses at the highest level. In addition to this technical role, Alex leads the PwC Bristol corporate tax sub-team, is the relationship manager for a portfolio of clients, and a linchpin of several significant audit of tax roles. Alex also coordinates our quarterly ‘Bristol Tax Talks’ seminar series aimed at in-house tax teams.

Kate Culley (Management Incentives)

Kate is a Manager in PwC’s Tax team based in the South West. Kate is a Chartered Accountant who has specialised in tax matters for over 20 years. She specialises in management team advisory work and all tax matters to do with shares- working with management teams, entrepreneurs, investors and family businesses.
