Marc Richard

Independent Executive, Interim Management, Operator, Advisor

Marc Richard is a business transformation and strategic leadership adviser working with owner-managed businesses at inflection points - distress, succession, and scale-up, typically in the £5m-£50m turnover range. His operating background is twelve years as MD of a South West manufacturing business, acquired underinvested in 2012, restructured across operational, financial and cultural dimensions over the following decade, and exited via management buyout in mid-2024. That period included a formal insolvency of a trading company, creditor negotiation, and post-administration rebuild - the kind of experience that sits underneath most of his advisory work today.

Prior to that, eight years in corporate finance and investment consulting at UBS in New York and London, advising family offices, UHNW and institutional clients. He is CFA trained and is a Goldman Sachs 10KSB alumnus (Oxford Saïd Business School).

He currently operates through Gritt Consulting Limited, based in Bath, and holds a fractional Chair position at CutList, a precision panel processing business near Aylesbury, where he leads the shareholder and governance structure through a period of strategic transition. He is also co-founder of Serac, a wealth aggregation platform for UHNW clients, and leads the AI Working Group at Angel Investors Bristol.

His advisory practice focuses on manufacturing and family-owned businesses, with a particular interest in the moment when a business's survival depends on someone willing to make hard calls in sequence, without flinching at the second or third.

What People Say:

- Ed Birks, Director: "Marc cut through the smokescreen and took decisive action at speed. His work protected the wider group and reduced personal exposure. I've since appointed him advisor and Chair of the Board."

Annette Pettitt, Accountancy Principal: "Exceptional leader and steady hand. He guides teams through uncertainty with clear thinking and practical direction."

Gary Chivers, Former Partner: "Relentless and extremely capable. I would happily run into burning buildings alongside Marc."

Most of the businesses I work with don't need a consultant - they need someone who has been in the same room, made the same calls, and can tell them what's actually true about their situation. That's the only version of this work I know how to do.
